Cristy Hatton
Licensed Massage Therapist #18825
B.S. Exercise and Sport Science, Summa Cum Laude
Personal Trainer- NAFC Certified
I have always been physically active. Newton said it best, “An object in motion will stay in motion while an object at rest will stay at rest.” I live my life in motion and encourage others to do the same.
At the age of seven, I discovered a passion for softball that led me to play for Oregon State University. I learned at an early age the benefits of hard work and tenacity; but the coaching and training I received in college brought my physical fitness to a new extreme. I am fortunate to know what it takes to truly push every limit for a fitness goal.
After graduation in 2009, I stayed in the fitness world. Blessed with conscious mentors who taught me proper lifting technique, program design and the idea that just because a body CAN do something, doesn’t mean it SHOULD with weight.
In my search to promote balanced fitness, I found myself recommending massage to clients; especially when stretching and proper form wasn’t enough. I have always loved giving massage for friends and family, but never realized the career potential it offered. Invigorated by the possibility, I tackled Massage Therapy and then Sports Massage.
I am now ready to make my way in the fitness world as a Personal Trainer and License Massage Therapist. My goal is to change how the public perceives massage and help everyone discover the overwhelming benefits it can provide.

Jennifer Oechsner:
I recently relocated to Portland from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I have been a martial arts student for 10 years and in 2009 received my black belt in freestyle Taekwondo. The beating my body was taking told me I needed to balance my practice with something softer. Once I tried yoga, I was hooked. This past summer I decided it was time to take my practice to the next level, and time to share my love of yoga with others. Seeking out an intensive certification program in India seemed natural to me. What better way to delve deeply into the experience than to go right to the source of yoga? I am thrilled to be living and teaching yoga in Portland and am excited to bring all that I have learned in India and from my wonderful teachers in Wisconsin to the students at Yoga & Pilates Northeast.
Duane Best – Pilates Instructor:
I’ve been teaching Pilates mat and equipment for over 9 years at various studios in Seattle( and now in Portland). I received my certification in Authentic Pilates in 2002 but believe the “right way” to teach is what is right for the person I’m working with. My favorite client is one who is willing to be challenged, respects their limitations and wants to have some fun while working out. I work with people as individuals, with individual needs and goals, and do not try to fit clients into some kind of routine. I remember my first experiences with Pilates as a client as being very challenging and I’m always impressed by those who take the leap to better body awareness, strength and flexibility. My life outside of teaching is spent raising my two sons, making art, performing comedy and Roller Derby.

Kimi Marin :
I discovered yoga ten years ago when I was looking for an activity to complement my running. Over time, yoga became less of a complementary activity and more of a way of life. I began to see how my yoga practice reduced stress levels, lessened the constant mind chatter, and helped me not only to build physical and mental strength but also a way to slow down in a rushed life. I began teaching to help others reach a deeper acceptance of who they are and to share the joys of yoga. You can always learn more about me and my classes at: https://kimimarinyoga.wordpress.com/

Karli Erickson :
I have been a student of movement and meditation since I was a teenager. I discovered yoga in Salt Lake City, UT, and have since been attracted to the quality of life Yoga has to offer. I have experienced immense benefits through my personal practice such as a relaxed body and mind, self-acceptance, an abundance of strength and flexibility, and several more. My intention is to integrate these benefits into my teaching style. I have diligently sought out experiences that provide the opportunity to learn and grow from the yogic philosophy, which continues to this day.
My love and enthusiasm for yoga is accompanied by my commitment to safely guide each student through moving meditation and breath-work in each asana. All levels are welcome, as I encourage each talented individual to move their practice at their own pace.

She completed her 200-hour certification in Spain through Frog Lotus Yoga International. Her teaching focuses on alignment and body awareness to find freedom, strength, and stability within practice and life. “Yoga is a life-long journey that can strengthen both the mind and the body in connection to oneself and to ones relationship with the world.” Teaching allows her to share that journey with others, cultivating joy and grace along the way.
